Dear Al,

I would like to thank you and your company for the excellent work you have provided Canandaigua Junior Baseball over the last several years. CJB has kept you busy with some major projects and we appreciate your ability to deliver quality ball field work on time.

We’ve been playing on our Minor and Major 60’ diamonds for the past three seasons and have been very happy with the overall quality of those installations. This past fall you renovated our Softball diamond and installed our new 70’ Major diamond and we’re extremely pleased with those fields as well. I predict a lot more leagues will be constructing 70’ diamonds for U12 divisions as they discover, as we have, that 70’ makes for superior play at this level and better prepares kids for the leap to 90’.

We look forward to working with you again. Keep up the good work and feel free to pass on our good fortune with your prospective clients.

Sincerely,
Robert C. Park

In my last two school districts we have chosen to use the services of Great Lakes Athletic Fields after hearing about their work from other superintendents. In both cases they took problem athletic fields and turned then into very high quality venues for our sports programs. Great Lakes analyzes current field conditions and suggests cost effective methods to dramatically upgrade athletic sites. Some of the work they do themselves, while other work is done by our own staff under the guidelines created by Great Lakes. We never felt that there was a "hard sell" in place as they truly want to do a great job at the lowest cost possible. Their professionalism and wisdom has made our athletic grounds ones that we are very proud on which to have visiting teams compete. Great company, great people, great results every time.

In the summer of 2004 Nazareth College contracted with Great Lakes Athletic Fields the construction of an inner-collegiate softball field and a lacrosse and soccer practice field. The softball field was designed with a Marco Clay infield and a sand-based natural grass outfield with irrigation and drainage. Immediately north of that a modified native soil natural grass practice field with irrigation and drainage was constructed.

There was very little extra room in this area so space management and staging were critical to the project. To further complicate matters, 1200 cu. yds. of sand and 1600 cu yds. of organic material had to be hauled in and blended with 1200 cu. yds. of native soil --on site!

Furthermore, the summer of 2004 was very wet in Western New York. Over 30 work days were postponed due to excessively wet soils without disagreement. 10 of those days no contractor could have worked, the other 20+ days I’m sure I would have had to battle mightily to keep many contractors from working but Great Lakes understood the ramifications of constructing athletic fields with saturated soils. Great Lakes Athletic Fields, under the direction of Jim Hornung Jr. and Al Dungey, did an outstanding job of developing strategies to bring this challenging project to a very successful conclusion.

Great Lakes Athletic Fields provides the Williamsville Central School District with professional analysis of our field conditions with reasonable recommendations on how the district can improve turf quality in a cost efficient manner.  They have also provided input on appropriate product application, as well as instructing staff on new and improved methods for completion of field maintenance tasks.

The bottom line is that our working relationship with Great Lakes Athletic Fields has improved our varsity play fields dramatically while minimizing the district's investment cost for these improvements.
